Espaços terciários em grandes projetos urbanos internacionais: consumo e desenho urbano

Tertiary spaces in international large-scale urban developments: consumption and urban design

A cidade, tradicionalmente local de troca ao longo dos séculos, torna-se a partir do final do século XX também local de consumo de experiências, em especial por meio do planejamento cultural e de projetos de regeneração ou desenvolvimento urbanos. Questões como sustentabilidade, estilo de vida, dinâmica urbana e identidade local são evidentes por meio dos espaços terciários criados e fomentados nesses projetos. Este artigo procura analisar a importância dos espaços terciários para a consolidação de espaços urbanos e suas áreas coletivas, utilizando como base quatro temas de investigação: i) o papel de masterplans/planos locais; ii) o papel de fluxos; iii) o papel da tipologia e morfologia; iv) consolidação e reflexão do caráter local do bairro. Exemplos em Copenhagen, Hamburgo, Londres e Rio de Janeiro demonstram o papel dos espaços terciários como geradores e reflexo da atmosfera do local, também indicando estilos de vida de bairros e seus habitantes.

The city, a traditional exchange place throughout the centuries, becomes from the end of the 20th century also a place for the consumption of experiences, especially through cultural planning and urban regeneration or development projects. Issues such as sustainability, lifestyle, urban dynamics and local identity are evident in the creation of tertiary spaces and are fomented in these projects. This paper aims to analyze the importance of tertiary space for the consolidation of urban spaces and collective areas, according to four themes of investigation: i) the role of masterplans/local plans; ii) the role of flows; iii) the role of typology and morphology; iv) consolidation and reflex of a neighborhood local character. Examples in Copenhagen, Hamburg, London and Rio de Janeiro demonstrate the role of tertiary spaces both as generators and a reflection of local atmosphere, also indicating the lifestyles of neighborhoods and their inhabitants.
