This paper focuses on the relationship between the design of the series of the Brazilian banknotes known as Cruzeiro Novo, and the acquisition of technology to implement their production. Until 1970, all Brazilian paper currency was produced in foreign countries. The launch of this series designed by Aloisio Magalhães was a milestone in the process that enabled the Brazilian Mint for the production of money in Brazil.
