Corrosion protection of AA-7075 aluminum alloy surface by poly(o-methoxyaniline)

This work analyzes the corrosion protection of the aluminum alloy AA-7075-T6 by poly-o-methoxyaniline (POMA) films, deposited by casting solution. The potentiodynamic polarization curves obtained in 0.6 mol L-1 NaCl solution indicate protective characteristics of POMA compared to polyaniline (PAni), indicating superior barrier properties. Open circuit potential measurements in NaCl solution and salt spray tests also confirm the efficiency of POMA films in the protection of alloy. POMA films demonstrate appreciable corrosion resistance during the exposition in salt spray, protecting the metallic surface for up to 200 h.
