Will the current automotive industry survive to the emerging mobility ecosystem?
Will the current automotive industry survive to the emerging mobility ecosystem?
Silva, Ricardo Henrique da; Kaminski, Paulo Carlos
Artigo:
The main objective of this research is to propose a path forward for the current auto industry to adapt and to integrate into a new, emerging ecosystem of generating mobility within the context of ‘Smart Cities’. That would be achieved by mapping current core competencies of the auto industry worldwide, as well as by mapping missing competencies and ways for compensating for the lack of these key competencies. More than ever, the auto industry, OEMs and their tiers suppliers, need to work together in an articulated way to understand and explore new alternatives for survival and growth within this new emerging innovation ecosystems. According to Moore, companies can be viewed as part of a business ecosystem that crosses a variety of industries, in which companies coevolve capabilities around an innovation. For him, there are four evolutionary stages of a business ecosystem: birth, expansion, leadership and self-renewal. Adner (2006) considered the business ecosystem an innovation ecosystem, which might be described as “the collaborative arrangements through which firms combine their individual offerings into a coherent, customer-facing solution".
