UrbX: Information and urban interactive experiences

Urssi, Nelson ;

Full Article:

The Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have been incorporated into daily life and provide new habits and usages of the urban environment. As an interconnected set of flows and languages, the city is a place of interaction and presents social, economic and cultural opportunities that give new shape to our daily experiences. The ubiquitous and pervasive computing, a variety of devices and mobile sensors, locative telecommunication and applications, allows that constant data stream be created, analyzed and expands the study of information in the city and what we mean by urban culture. This research, of qualitative and phenomenological character, starts from theoretical basis and reflection about the fields of knowledge of interaction and information design while relating to the theory of complexity. The article characterizes and qualifies informational layers in the urban space as a place of interactive experience of the user/citizen (UrbX) into typologies that define the city, this complex entity, such as an organic, dynamic and culturally movement.
