This work presents the results of the project "Materials and Process of Footwear Manufacturing:Tradition and Innovation", developed in the Department of Product Design of the Federal University ofCariri. Through a report from the point of view of the teacher/coordinator of the discipline and anartisan/entrepreneur, also part of the project, we sought to present the development of the project activities,as well as highlighting the positive and negative points of the experiences. The project combined theacademic knowledge of the discipline with traditional handicrafts of the region. The gains from the practicewere several for both sides involved.
