This Article is about a research based on display typography used in almanack laemmert beetween 1858 and 1898, specially in their advertisement area. A research methodology was built from this specifically with the data achieved from the almanack''s pages. A need to categorize the display types used was felt after the research, specially of Tuscan Serif. Which had never been classified before. The Almanack Laemmert dates from the 19th century in Rio de Janeiro and was a important publication, therefore this research contributes to the collection of Brazilian''s graphic memory. This article describes how we got to this methodology created specifically to this study and which results were obtained with it.
