The article discusses the impact of new tactile technologies and cognitive interfaces of tablets in the typographical development of digital typefaces with calligraphic approach. To this end, it seeks to analyze, from the theory of writing Gerrit Noordzij, the structure of traditional calligraphic stroke and its particularities when it is drawn on ipad. Moreover, also problematizes the influence of the materiality of such devices as a tool / support under the calligraphic gestures and the stroke when compared to the traditional use of pens. Finally, pointing to the possibilities and restrictions of the use of digital technology as a step methodology for typeface developing
