The text entry process is a frequent activity performed by users in Virtual Reality (VR) systems. The standard techniques for such a process in Virtual Environments (VEs) may provide a negative experience that demotivates—or even excludes—a Person with Disabilities (PwD) in upper limbs due to lack of accessibility. Therefore, this paper aims to present a systematic literature review of studies that present alternative text input techniques characterized as assistive technologies or that feature an inclusive design for PwDs in upper limbs. Being aware of state of the art can contribute to the synthesis of the features that an inclusive technique must have to enable upper limb PwDs to communicate within VEs—either with the system itself or with other users—with good performance and a positive user experience.
