This article presents the result of a systematic review conducted with the objective of mapping the main concepts related to entrepreneurial action and how it connects with design. The application of the systematic review of the literature technique met the objective of organizing concepts and terminologies related to entrepreneurial action and identifying points of contact with the design. Four key factors of entrepreneurial action and several elements internal and external that exert influence on entrepreneurial action were identified. Finally, it describes points of contact between action and design. The article presents evidence on the contribution of design management to innovation in entrepreneurial initiatives – as a resource to deal with early-stage business ambiguities. The article also describes the relationship between design and entrepreneurship – such as the designer-entrepreneur – or the indirect relationship that is presented through the innovation related concepts – as a new product development, and elements that suggest that this can happen through related approaches, such as design thinking.
