Pictorial representation in the London Olympics 2012: syntactic, semantic and pragmatic analysis
Pictorial representation in the London Olympics 2012: syntactic, semantic and pragmatic analysis
Full Article:
The pictorial representation and the use of pictograms for signage systems building, metropolitan and major events have appropriated the systematization, stylization and abstraction of the symbols to visual composition. The systematization proposed by Otto Neurat Isotype System has a strong influence on these systems, interfering with the visual composition of projects such as the signaling of Olympic events. From a cut between 1964 and 2012 Olympics, this article proposes a brief analysis focused on three pictograms selected system used in the London Olympics 2012. Thus, a model is organized and considering as parameters of analysis the levels of semiotic theory of signs proposed by Charles Morris.
