ONLINE MONITORING OF Pichia pastoris METABOLISM THROUGH RESPIRATION

The online respiration monitoring is a useful tool to have insights about the cell culture. Furthermore, it allows modifications during the process to improve yields. Cultures of Pichia pastoris modified to produce L-asparaginase, a chemotherapy enzyme, were evaluated by their oxygen uptake rate (OUR) and carbon dioxide evolution rate (CER). The results indicated which process condition was beneficial to cell growth and that the production phase can be improved by increasing the inductor feed.
