A design brief is a tool used in the early stages of project development in different domains. It helps to organize the fuzzy front-end context by stating, through a document, the demands and guidelines of the project. This article presents the findings of a study on the adoption of the design brief among Brazilian design practitioners. Exploring data obtained via an online questionnaire and supported by the Design Quality Criteria (DQC)—a conceptual model for a design brief—we mapped aspects related to the adoption of the design tool and presented the perspective of Brazilian designers regarding the models currently used. The study identified wide adoption among professionals, and their perceptions align with global models concerning the components of a design brief. The findings also suggest that practitioners tend to value aspects related to the DQC's strategic and performance dimensions in their design briefs.
