After the successful use of Gotham typeface by Barack Obama''s presidential campaign in 2008, there was a rapid growth in its use in many communication contexts. The objective of this work is to identify and analyze the reasons for the adoption of this typeface by institutions of power in Brazil, such as governments, academic institutions and the media.
