Determination of the Isosteric Heat of Adsorption for CH4 and CO2 mixtures in NaY with a modified DR equation

A modified Dubinin-Radushkevich equation was applied to correlate pure CO2 and CH4 adsorption in NaY zeolite at different temperatures. DR parameters obtained were inserted in Sundaram-Yang model coupled with IAST to predict isosteric heats of adsorption for CO2 + CH4 mixtures. All calculations were developed with Evolutionary method of Microsoft Excel®’s Solver. Results indicate that heat released from CO2 adsorption in the mixture is bigger than CH4, and it corroborates CO2 is more strongly adsorbed than CH4 on NaY zeolite and give information about energies involved in such binary systems.
