Given the complexities observed in health systems, service design is seen as a design aspect that, through the creation of new services or the improvement of existing ones, generates innovations and solutions for the field of analysis. Therefore, the main objective of this study was, through a systematic review of the specialized literature, to explore the potential of service design in the generation of health innovations. Thirteen articles were selected for analysis, which proposed new services and reformulation of existing services, considering general and specific service needs, as well as users’ needs. Most research has focused innovation on proposing different views from those commonly exercised in services, with the expansion of user involvement. User experience, an important axis of service design, was perceived as an inspirational theme in the studies, as it was not explored in depth.
