This paper presents part of the research at PUC-Rio dedicated to the investigation of models of protective masks against COVID-19 that are low cost, reusable, easily manufactured, and comply with current filtering standards. The objective of this work is to present the design process and the progression of one of the model alternatives for individual protection masks developed by the team. To this end, a chart was developed that demonstrates the progress obtained with the continuous efforts for improvement and development of new solutions. The development procedures are aligned with the Research through Design (RtD) methodology. The criterion for the selection of the masks that are detailed in this work consisted in approaching the developed versions that contain unfoldings and technical solutions essential to obtain a model of individual protection mask that will be forwarded to the agencies responsible for the regulation of such equipment.
