This research aims to contribute to a reactivation and viability of traditional Portuguese crafts in the domains of the built environment and artifacts production. These craft practices are often being replaced to the disadvantage of their localities of provenance in regard to their sustainable development. The work thus seeks to promote the application of craftsmanship in architecture and design by fostering collaboration between architects, designers, creative professionals, and craftspeople. Currently, the project is undertaking a survey of emerging context-specific practices related to traditional local crafts and traditional industries, aiming at a critical overview into these dynamics. The poster features visual records and data from ethnographic fieldwork produced during semi-structured interviews and participant observation; these take into account practitioners, artifacts, tools, techniques, and production locations.
