China na revolução digital: catch-up, leapfrogging e planejamento estatal

Dynamics of Chinese Multinational Companies: A Comparative Analysis

Prates, Bruno Prado ;

Artigo:

The intensification of China's development process and the emergence of large Chinese companies had a profound impact on the international geopolitical structure. The United States' economic superiority was put under threat by the growth of China and the expansion of Chinese multinationals. This work proposed to understand the expansion process of Chinese multinationals and their consolidation as important agents of the global economy, by comparing financial (at the company-level) and economic-structural (at the country-level) indicators among the main players of global capitalism, such as the United States, Japan, United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Analyzes reveal the expansion of Chinese multinationals since the 2000s, to the detriment of a reduction in multinationals from other countries, especially the United States and Japan. The expansion was especially concentrated in the finance sector, with great importance for banks, due to the role they play in choosing projects for the country’s national and regional development.
