Techno-economic paradigm transitions and windows of opportunity: the emerging case of renewable energies

Corrêa, Lucas ; Cário, Silvio ;

Artigo completo:

This article discusses the theoretical-analytical concepts of techno-economic paradigms, technological revolutions and great surges of development aiming to understand the processes of technological change and creative destruction in successive waves. On these bases, it is argued that renewable energies can become the key-input for an emergent technological revolution, satisfying all the criteria attributed in the literature. For developing countries, in particular, the argument is made that renewable technologies can represent an window of opportunity open in this period of transition between paradigms. Therefore, innovation policies in renewable technologies must be placed at the center of development strategies.
