Full Article:

This article discusses Information Architecture (IA) and Information Design (ID) relationships and interactions aiming to analyze the historical conception of the former since the 1960s. Investigate the points of contact between the disciplines over the years is the problem we seek to solve. At this moment the primary focus is based on the literature of IA, arranging a conceptual review by using an chronology scheme of the field produced by Ronda Léon (2008) and the revised version of this scheme published by Resmini (2009) . The research is characterized as theoretical, descriptive and exploratory as it aims to discuss conceptual issues that are the basis to demonstrate the relevance of the analyzed areas in current social, science and technology scenario. Aims to promote a more complete disambiguation of the terms and draws correlations from recent studies, concluding that IA is intrinsically linked to ID. We introduce our findings and analysis in the light of information designers because we believe that the two disciplines mentioned here require more interdisciplinary discussions and incentives among themselves. A strong contribution between both can promote new real improvements to the experience of the information user.
